Safety & Security

Your safety and security are our top priorities. This guide outlines how we protect you and the simple steps you can take to shop securely, protect your account, and avoid common scams.

How We Protect You

  • Secure, Encrypted Payments: We use Stripe, a global leader in payment processing, to handle all transactions. Your payment information is encrypted and sent directly to Stripe, meeting the highest security standards (PCI-DSS Level 1). OpenDay never stores your full credit card details.
  • Verified Sellers: We verify all sellers' identities and business information before they can open a shop and process payments on OpenDay.
  • Privacy Protection: We only collect the data necessary to process your orders (like your shipping address) and improve your experience. We protect your data with encryption, secure servers, and regular security audits.

Securing Your Account

The best way to stay safe is to secure your account.

  • Create a Strong Password:
    • Use at least 12 characters.
    • Include a mix of uppercase letters, lowercase letters, numbers, and symbols (e.g., !@#$%  ).
    • Use a password manager (like 1Password or Bitwarden) to create and store unique passwords for every site.
  • Enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA):
    • This is the single best way to protect your account, even if your password is stolen.
    • 2FA adds an extra security layer by requiring a code from your phone (via an app like Google Authenticator or Authy) when you log in.
    • You can enable it in Account Settings → Security.
  • General Best Practices:
    • Never share your password with anyone.
    • Always sign out of your account when using a public or shared computer.
    • We will never ask for your password in an email.

Shopping Smart & Spotting Scams

Most issues can be avoided by recognizing the warning signs of a scam.

The #1 Rule: Always Pay Through OpenDay

This is the most common scam. If a seller asks you to pay via PayPal, Venmo, Zelle, wire transfer, or any method outside the official OpenDay checkout, do not do it.

It is a violation of our policy and a clear sign of a scam. We can only protect and support purchases made through our secure system. Report any seller who asks you to do this immediately.

Before You Buy

  • Check Seller Ratings & Reviews: Look at their overall star rating and read recent feedback from other customers. A long history of positive reviews is a great sign.
  • Read Descriptions Carefully: Check the item details, return policy, and shipping times before purchasing.
  • Use OpenDay Chat: Keep all communication with the seller on our platform. This creates a record if you need to contact support later.

Common Red Flags

  • "Too Good to Be True" Prices: A brand new, high-end item for 90% off is almost certainly a scam.
  • Phishing Emails & Fake Sites: Be wary of emails or texts creating false urgency (e.g., "Your account will be suspended!").
    • Check the URL: Always make sure your browser shows https://www.openday.com   and the 🔒 padlock icon.
    • Check the Sender: Look for misspellings in the email address or links. When in doubt, type openday.com   directly into your browser instead of clicking a link.
  • Suspicious Requests: Never share personal information like your full credit card number, bank details, or password in a chat message.

Getting Help

  • How to Report a Seller: If you see a scam, a counterfeit item, or a policy violation, use the "Report" button on the seller's shop page or the product listing.
  • Contact Support: For account security issues, order disputes, or to report fraud, contact our team.
    • Email: support@openday.com
    • Help Center: Use the in-app help button.

Please provide order numbers, seller names, and screenshots so we can resolve your issue as quickly as possible.

Frequently Asked Questions

Yes. Your card is saved securely by our payment processor, Stripe, not on OpenDay's servers. Your full details are encrypted and are never visible to us or to any seller.

2. Can sellers see my payment information?

No. Sellers only see your shipping address to fulfill the order and that your payment was successful. They never see your credit card or bank account information.

3. What should I do if my account is compromised?

Immediately change your password, enable Two-Factor Authentication (2FA), and contact support@openday.com   so we can secure your account.

4. What if I receive a counterfeit item or the order never arrives?

First, try to resolve the issue with the seller through OpenDay chat. If they are unresponsive, contact OpenDay support. We will investigate and take appropriate action.
