Shop Setup

Your shop settings are the foundation of your brand on OpenDay. This guide covers branding, policies, and shipping to help you build a professional and trustworthy storefront.

Shop Identity & Branding

Access these settings at Settings → Shop Settings  .

Avatar (Profile Picture)

This is your brand's main icon, appearing in search, on your channel, and in chat.

  • Specs: 400x400px (recommended), JPG/PNG, < 2MB.
  • Best Practices: Use a high-contrast logo or brand mark. Avoid text, as it won't be readable when small.

Your channel's header. This is the first impression for new visitors.

  • Specs: 1200x300px (4:1 aspect ratio), JPG/PNG, < 5MB.
  • Best Practices: Keep text minimal and large for mobile. Update it for sales, seasons, or new collections. Use a clear call-to-action (e.g., "Live Every Tuesday 7 PM").

Username

Your unique URL (openday.com/yourusername  ). This cannot be changed once set.

  • Rules: 3-30 characters, alphanumeric and hyphens only.
  • Best Practices: Make it short, memorable, and match your brand/social handles (e.g., handmade-jewelry  ). Avoid random numbers (e.g., seller12345  ).

Shop Description

Tell customers your story. What do you sell, and why should they choose you? (50-500 characters recommended).

  • What to Include: Your product categories, what makes you unique (e.g., "handmade," "sustainable"), your brand mission, and your live stream schedule.
  • Example: "Handcrafted leather goods from sustainable materials. We specialize in minimalist wallets and bags. Live every Tuesday at 7 PM ET for new releases!"

Shop Category

Choose your primary business category (e.g., "Fashion," "Handmade Crafts," "Electronics"). This improves discoverability and helps customers find you.

Connect your profiles (TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, etc.) to build trust and allow customers to follow you on other platforms. Link only to active, professional accounts.

Policies

Clear policies protect you and your customers.

Shipping Policy

Navigate to Settings → Shipping Settings → Shipping Policy .

A clear policy builds trust. Be sure to include:

  • Processing Time: How long before you ship? (e.g., "Orders process in 1-2 business days.")
  • Carriers & Services: Who you ship with (e.g., USPS, FedEx) and the services you offer (e.g., "Priority Mail," "First Class").
  • International Shipping: Clearly state where you ship internationally and that buyers are responsible for customs fees.
  • Lost/Damaged Packages: Explain the process for customers (e.g., "Contact us within 30 days to resolve.")

Return & Refund Policy

Navigate to Settings → Shop Settings → Return Policy .

Define your terms for returns, exchanges, and refunds. Key sections to include:

  • Return Window: How long do customers have? (e.g., "30 days of delivery").
  • Eligibility: What condition must items be in? (e.g., "Unused, with tags, in original packaging").
  • Return Process: A simple step-by-step (e.g., "1. Contact us... 2. We provide instructions... 3. Ship item.").
  • Return Shipping: Who pays? (e.g., "Customer is responsible for return shipping unless the item is defective.").
  • Non-Returnable Items: Be explicit (e.g., "Final sale items, custom orders, and intimate apparel cannot be returned.").

Shipping Configuration

Navigate to Settings → Shipping Profiles .

Shipping Profiles are reusable templates for your shipping settings.

Shipping Profiles

Create profiles to quickly apply settings to products. A profile includes:

  • From Address: Your warehouse or fulfillment origin.
  • Carriers & Services: Your preferred carriers (USPS, FedEx, etc.).
  • Processing Time: How many days before shipment.
  • Free Shipping Threshold: Set a minimum order value for free shipping (e.g., "$50+").
  • International Settings: Enable/disable international shipping.

Example Profiles:

  • Standard: 1-2 day processing, USPS/FedEx, free shipping over $50.
  • Large Items: 2-3 day processing, FedEx/UPS, free shipping over $200.
  • Made-to-Order: 5-7 day processing, USPS Priority, free shipping over $100.

Shipping Rates

Choose a strategy for charging customers:

  • Flat Rate: A single rate for all orders (e.g., "$5 flat rate"). Simple, but can be inaccurate.
  • Real-Time Carrier Rates: The most accurate. Calculates cost based on package weight, dimensions, and destination.
  • Free Shipping: A powerful conversion tool. You can offer it on all orders (by building the cost into your product price) or over a threshold (e.g., "Free shipping on orders over $50").

Best Practice: Use Real-Time Carrier Rates combined with a Free Shipping Threshold to incentivize larger orders.

Channel Settings

Navigate to Settings → Channel Settings .

Stream Title

Update this for every stream. Make it exciting and descriptive.

  • Good: "NEW Fall Arrivals Try-On Haul + 25% OFF!"
  • Bad: "My Live Stream"

Next Event (Scheduled Stream)

Set your next stream time. This notifies your followers, shows up on your channel, and builds anticipation.

Stream Key & Ingest URL

For use with streaming software like OBS or Streamlabs.

  • Stream Key: A unique, private code. Do not share it! Anyone with this key can stream to your channel.
  • Ingest URL: The server URL you paste into your streaming software.

Account Settings

Security

  • Password: Use a strong, unique password and change it regularly.
  • Two-Factor Authentication (2FA): Highly recommended. This adds a layer of protection by requiring a code from your phone to log in.

Linked Accounts

Connect Google or Facebook for faster, easier login and account recovery.

Account Deletion

Permanently and irreversibly deletes your shop, products, order history, and all data. Before deleting, be sure to fulfill all pending orders.

Advanced Settings

  • Dark Mode / Theme: Toggle the dashboard theme for your own view.
  • Notification Preferences: Control which emails you receive (e.g., new orders, new messages, marketing).
  • Subscription Management: View your current plan, billing cycle, and usage. Access the Stripe Billing Portal to update payment methods or view invoices.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I change my username later?

No, usernames are permanent once set. Choose carefully!

Should I enable international shipping?

We recommend starting with domestic-only to simplify. You can add international shipping once you are comfortable with fulfillment.

How often should I update my banner?

Monthly or seasonally works well. Update it more frequently for special events or promotions.

What if I don't have a logo?

Use a clean product photo or create a simple, text-based logo using a free tool like Canva.

Do I need to fill out all social media links?

No, only link to active accounts you regularly update. An empty link is better than an inactive or outdated account.
